Sprinkler Blowout: Get Ready for the October 1 Watering Deadline

Due to ongoing drought conditions, Denver Water has announced that lawn watering and spray irrigation must stop after September 30, 2026. With lawn sprinkler systems going off for the season, it’s a good time to take the next step and plan your irrigation winterization. Scheduling your Sprinkler Blowout Denver service early helps get your property into our queue before freezing temperatures arrive.
Important: Trees, shrubs, and gardens may still need supplemental water. Follow Denver Water’s current guidelines for approved hand-watering and low-volume irrigation methods.
Why Prioritize Sprinkler Winterization?
Turning off your sprinkler system isn’t the same as winterizing it.
Water can remain inside irrigation lines, valves, and other components after the system has been shut down. When Colorado temperatures drop below freezing, that remaining water can freeze, expand, and potentially damage components of your irrigation system. Autumn Tree Lawn & Landscape uses professional equipment and a commercial compressor to clear remaining water from irrigation lines and prepare your system for winter.

Save 20% When You Pre-Authorize by October 1
We’re making it a little easier to get ahead of your fall to-do list.
Pre-approve your sprinkler blowout with Autumn Tree Lawn & Landscape by October 1, 2026, and receive 20% off your sprinkler blowout service. Authorizing by October 1 does not mean your blowout will be performed immediately. Once authorized, we’ll place your property in our sprinkler blowout service queue. Blowouts are typically scheduled mid- to late October before the first freeze.
What We Need to Provide Your Estimate
Before we can prepare your sprinkler blowout proposal, please have a few details ready:
- Number of sprinkler zones
- Type of irrigation system, if known
Once Scheduled:
- Location of your backflow preventer
- Location and accessibility of your water shutoff
- Whether someone can be home to provide access once scheduled
Don’t know all the answers? That’s okay. The number of zones is the most important information we need to prepare your estimate.
Sprinkler Blowout FAQs
How do I receive the 20% discount?
Authorize your sprinkler blowout proposal by October 1, 2026, and you’ll receive 20% off your sprinkler blowout service. Your blowout does not need to be completed by October 1 to qualify.
If I authorize now, will you blow out my sprinklers right away?
No. Pre-authorizing secures your place in our sprinkler blowout service queue. We typically schedule blowouts mid- to late October before the first freeze.
How many sprinkler zones do I have?
Your zones are the individual areas of your irrigation system that run separately. If you’re unsure, check your sprinkler controller and count the active zones or stations.
We need your number of zones before we can provide an accurate estimate.
Do you need to know what type of sprinkler system I have?
If you know, please tell us. Information about your irrigation system can help our team prepare for your service.
Do I need to be home?
We may need access to your water shutoff, depending on your system. Let us know whether you’ll be available when the service is scheduled or whether our technician will have another way to access it.
Where is my backflow preventer?
Backflow preventers are commonly located outside near the home or where the irrigation system connects to the water supply. If you know where yours is located, please include that information with your estimate request.
What equipment do you use?
We use professional equipment and a commercial air compressor to efficiently clear remaining water from your irrigation lines and prepare the system for freezing conditions.
Can I still water my trees after October 1?
Yes. The Denver Water restriction applies to grass watering and spray irrigation. Trees, shrubs, and perennials can still receive needed water using methods permitted under Denver Water’s current drought restrictions.

Don’t Wait for the First Freeze
Your lawn sprinklers may be shutting down October 1, but turning them off is only the first step in preparing your irrigation system for a Colorado winter. Get your property into our fall scheduling queue now.
