Deep Root Watering – Frequently Ask Questions and Answers

What is supplemental watering and why you should consider it:
🌳 What is supplemental tree watering?
Supplemental tree watering provides additional moisture when natural rainfall and irrigation systems aren’t enough. It delivers water deep into the root zone to support tree health during dry periods.
🌳 Can established trees really suffer from lack of moisture?
Yes. Even mature trees can experience drought stress. Without proper watering, trees can become weakened, making them more susceptible to pests, disease, and long-term damage.
🌳 How often should trees be watered during dry conditions?
During dry or drought conditions, most trees benefit from deep watering about once a month. Younger or newly planted trees may require more frequent watering. Soil type, tree size, and weather conditions all play a role.
Common misconceptions about supplemental watering:
🌳 We’ve had rain or snow recently. Is supplemental watering still necessary?
In many cases, yes. Light rain or snowfall often does not provide enough deep soil moisture to fully hydrate tree roots, especially during extended dry periods. Moisture needs to penetrate well into the root zone to be effective.
🌳 Our irrigation system already waters the trees. Isn’t that enough?
Most irrigation systems are designed for turf and landscape plants, not deep tree root systems. Trees require slow, deep watering that penetrates beyond surface soil.
🌳 I have a drip line near my tree. Is supplemental watering still necessary?
In many cases, yes. Drip systems often support nearby plants or turf and may not provide enough deep, widespread moisture for larger root systems. Tree roots extend well beyond the drip line and benefit from deep, slow watering.
🌳 Our lawn looks healthy. Doesn’t that mean the trees are fine?
Not necessarily. Lawns have shallow root systems and are watered frequently. Trees require deeper watering and can experience drought stress even when turf appears green.
🌳 The tree is mature and established. Does it still need supplemental watering?
Yes. Even well-established trees can suffer during prolonged dry conditions. Larger trees often require more water because of their size and extensive root systems. Read more..

Timing and Frequency:
🌳 Can’t we wait until the tree shows signs of stress?
Visible symptoms like leaf scorch or early leaf drop typically appear after the tree has already been under stress. Proactive watering helps prevent damage rather than trying to correct it later.
🌳 You were just out last month. Do we really need watering again?
Tree watering is based on current soil moisture conditions, not just the calendar. In dry weather, soil can lose moisture quickly. Monthly check-ins allow you to decide based on current conditions.
🌳 We don’t think our trees need watering right now.
That’s completely your choice. Our Will Call Watering program is designed to give you flexibility. When authorized, we check in monthly and you decide whether service is needed.
🌳 Do you use our water and hose?
No. We supply our own water using onboard tanks mounted to our service trucks and utilize commercial-grade hoses and soil probes to deliver deep root watering. This method allows us to inject water directly into the root zone, ensuring proper soil saturation where trees actively absorb moisture.
The Watering Program and Pricing:
🌳 What is the Will Call Watering program?
Our Will Call Watering program is a flexible supplemental watering option. When authorized, we contact you once a month to see if you’d like us to come out and water your trees. We only perform the service with your approval and invoice after watering is completed.

🌳 The pricing is more than we can manage right now.
We understand that budgets matter. Preventative watering can help avoid costly issues later. We also offer senior and military/first responder discounts to help make services more accessible.
